The Florida Senate named Dr. Yan Makeyev of 21st Century Oncology Jacksonville “Doctor of the Day” on March 30, 2015.
Dr. Makeyev was honored in Tallahassee with the Clay County Medical Society (CCMS), where he serves as secretary. He and CCMS President, Dr. Richard Curtis, met with Chris Clark of the Florida Medical Association and toured the Senate floor with Senator Rob Bradley. They also attended the Senate Banking and Finance Committee Meeting to stand in opposition of SB 516, the ER Balance Billing bill.
A Board Certified Medical Oncologist and hematologist, Dr. Makeyev received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Tufts Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship at NYU Medical Center where he was recognized as the Department of Medicine Hematology Fellow of the Year in 2008 and Department of Medicine Oncology Fellow of the Year in 2009. Since 2011, he has served as Quality Improvement Liaison on the Cancer Committee, Peer Review Committee and as a member of the Medical Informatics Committee.
