Chief Privacy Officer
Juli Wessel joined 21st Century Oncology in 2017 as the Chief Privacy Officer. In this role, she is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy policies and training. She manages the company’s privacy monitoring program, including investigating and tracking privacy incidents, and ensuring compliance with federal and state breach notification rules. She also oversees the company’s compliance with use and disclosure requirements and patients’ rights with respect to protected health information (PHI).
Prior to joining 21st
Century Oncology, she served as Director of the Privacy Program and Privacy Officer at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she built a comprehensive privacy program that developed and implemented policies and processes that enabled consistent, effective privacy practices minimizing risk and ensuring confidentiality of protected health information, and individually identifiable research information.
Ms. Wessel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management, and a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC).
