Medical Oncology uses chemotherapy, biological agents or other medications, such as targeted therapies and oral (in pill form), to treat cancer.
Chemotherapy can be used alone or as part of a cancer treatment plan that may also include radiation therapy, surgery, hormonal, or biological therapies. It may be used in an effort to cure the cancer, or to treat unpleasant symptoms the cancer is causing, such as pain or bleeding.
Depending on the type of treatment used, patients may receive treatment in a single day, several consecutive days, or continuously in an outpatient or inpatient setting. Your treatment could last minutes, hours, or days, depending on the specific cancer treatment plan.
21st Century Oncology will be moving to their new home as part of the global GenesisCare network. The 21st Century Oncology website will no longer exist after November 2020.
There will be no disruption in your care team, location, or contacts. There will simply be a new website, new look and feel, and patients will benefit from the latest treatment technology and evidence-based cancer care. We look forward to serving you as part of the GenesisCare team.
