Hope comes from confidence

Confidence comes from knowing you have state-of-the-art technology on your side. Our automated dosage monitoring technology is so advanced that it can tell if there is a change in your tumor, or in your anatomy, which may require a dosage modification.

Your safety is our first priority.

As a cancer patient, it's important that you receive an accurate dosage of radiation. Too much may lead to unwanted side effects. Too little diminishes the treatment’s effectiveness and may increase the chance of a recurrence.

The primary objective of sophisticated treatment systems is to deliver as much radiation as possible – for maximum effectiveness – while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue and possible side effects. Radiation therapy delivery has become so precise that damage to surrounding healthy tissue — the primary cause of side effects commonly associated with radiation therapy treatment — is now minimized.

21st Century Oncology goes an extra step to ensure that you receive the exact dosage amount of radiation therapy prescribed with our proprietary dosage assurance software.  We developed our own automated dosage monitoring technology that records the amount of radiation you receive and automatically alerts the medical team if it is less or more than the prescribed dose. The technology behind the validation system is extremely sophisticated. In fact, it is so advanced that it can tell if there is a change in your tumor, or in your anatomy, which may require a dosage modification.

In a nutshell, it works by measuring the amount of radiation that exits your body during treatment. By subtracting this from the amount of dosage delivered, the software calculates precisely how much radiation you received. Your Radiation Oncologist can then use this data to adjust your dosage, if necessary, to ensure you get the most effective treatment while minimizing potential side effects.

This system also automatically checks that you are correctly positioned on the treatment table, and will detect any anomaly with the radiation treatment system itself. It is a remarkable technology that we use with our patients to verify that treatment is delivered accurately, safely and as effectively as possible.

Radiation therapy and your safety.

Your safety is our first priority.

We use this extra step to monitor radiation therapy during treatment to:

  • Ensure the amount of radiation you get is exactly the amount prescribed
  • Verify that you are positioned properly
  • Detect any changes in your anatomy that may require a change in your treatment plan
  • Validate that the equipment is perfectly calibrated and working properly
  • Provide you with peace of mind and the most stress-free experience possible
Radiation therapy and your safety.
