PROVIDENCE, R.I. – July 14, 2016 – 21st Century Oncology is proud to welcome Radiation Oncologist Alexandra Sherman, M.D. to its cancer treatment facilities in the Rhode Island market.
Dr. Sherman earned her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worchester, Massachusetts. She served as a project leader teaching anatomy to medical students at the University of Massachusetts Medical School before entering residency.
She went on to complete an internship at Carney Hospital in Boston, followed by a combined residency in Radiation Oncology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She also worked at QARC/University of Massachusetts Medical School contributing to a pediatric Hodgkin Disease trial.
In addition to her many accomplishments, Dr. Sherman also co-authored book chapters on various radiation oncology topics, including normal tissue toxicity and breast cancer. One of her interests is improving palliative cancer care and she completed a project in residency examining this topic.

Dr. Sherman is a member of the American Brachytherapy Society, the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the Radiologic Society of North America.
